Presidents Page
June 6th, 2010
Hello IMS4 members and fans,
As we approach the halfway point of the 2010 season, we find ourselves once
again with a situation. As most of you know by now, Chris Watt has stepped down
as head tech of our club, following several seasons of tireless work. Chris did
a fabulous job and still remains an active member of the club. We all owe Chris
a huge thank you for all the work he has done for this club. In order to fulfill
the tech position, we asked for someone to volunteer to help out and nobody from
the club responded. Sharon Constantine and I spoke with Dave Conway about the
possibility of him helping us out, and he said he would be able to do it. So,
for the rest of this season, Dave Conway will be our new "interim" head tech.
Most of you already know Dave or at least know who he is. Please try and make
him feel comfortable in his new position. Remember, he is a volunteer, and he is
only trying to keep everything fair for all the competitors. He doesn't play
favourites and he tells things the way he sees them. All of the IMS4 executives
and board members are volunteers. Please try and remember this when you feel
like voicing your opinions.
The garage sale is still a go and will be held at our house, (Dave and Gennifer)
,on July 10 and 11th. We could use a couple of people to help out with the sale
and we need all the donations that we can get. Remember, all the proceeds from
this sale will be going straight into your points fund.
Also, the hot dog sale is scheduled for July 15, 16, and 17 at KMS Tools. We
need 2 or 3 race cars on display, and a few helpers. The funds raised at this
event also go straight into the points fund. Please let myself, Gen, Sharon , or
Jan know if you can help out or bring your car down.
Next points race is Saratoga the evening of June 19th. Let's hope for good
weather!! See ya there.
IMS4 President,
Dave Isles
APRIL 14, 2010
Welcome back, everyone.
Well, we have now got the first race of the season in the books. Aside from
several mechanical failures, the racing was pretty clean and competitive. Not a
bad car count for the first race of the season. As you probably already know, we
are scheduled for 11 races this season. 9 at Western and 2 at Saratoga (June19 &
Aug 28). Yes, both Saratoga races will be points races.
As most of you are probably aware, we had a new Western Speedway IMS4 track
record set at the first race. Aaron Willison, car# 69, layed down a blistering
lap of 18.318 in qualifying!!! A protest was filed against the 69 car for a
compression ratio check and a verification of engine size. After sealing the
engine at the track, the car was taken to Dave Conway's shop the next morning.
Chris Watt and I proceeded to teardown the engine and measure it. The protested
items were found to be within the IMS4 club rules. The engine measured 2204.9 cc
and the compression ratio was 10.88:1. The track record stands! Congratulations
Aaron.
This brings me to my next point. There is a proper protest procedure which
must be followed if one is going to put up a protest. This can be found in the
rule book on pages 10 and 11. This procedure MUST be followed for ANY protests.
NO EXCEPTIONS! In other words, if you think something isn't right, put your
money up and put it in writing.
Also on a tech note, hardly anybody has got their engine sealed. This MUST
be done before the next race or NO POINTS will be awarded. Call Chris to arrange
ASAP. Please be ready for him. Have all the proper holes drilled BEFORE he gets
there. Don't waste his time. He is a volunteer in the club and he does a
fabulous job and devotes MANY hours of his own to help us all. Let's cooperate
and try to make his job a little easier.
We will be reviewing the race results and times within the next few races.
If anybody is dominating the field, we will be equalizing things in order to
keep the racing competitive. This will likely be a weight penalty. We want to
put on a great show and keep it fair for everybody.
As most of you are probably aware, we are without a series sponsor this
year. We still have nightly race sponsors available for $200/ night. If you know
of someone who might be interested in some reasonably priced advertising, and is
willing to help out the club, have them contact Jan Percival or me. We are
trying to raise some money for the points fund in other ways too. Jan and Sharon
have secured a hot dog sale at KMS Tools on the weekend of July 15-17. KMS
supplies everything and we get to keep all the money raised for our club. We
would like to display a few cars there also. If anyone is interested, please let
me know asap. We will also be holding a garage sale, at my house, date to be
announced, with all the proceeds going to the points fund. We need people to
help out with this and we need donations of saleable items. Please drop
items off at our house, or we can pick up. These can be useable car parts,
household goods, garage goods, etc. (No junk please). If anybody has any other
fundraising ideas, please speak up. Every little bit helps.
Let's have a great season and we will see ya at the track!! Cheers, Dave.

Well, it's been a while since the last president's page. As you all know, there
have been a lot of things going on behind the scenes. Some of these things you
may be aware of, some of them you may not be aware of.
First, and foremost, has been the situation with the mainland cars. Chris Watt
and I have been working hard with the promoter to work this out and try to
include these cars in our show, and, at the same time, trying to keep everything
fair for the local cars. We have decided to add a hundred pounds to these cars.
We will be reviewing it after two races. At that point, we will adjust as
necessary, to keep things fair and competitive. They are planning to run the
full season with us and that means they are subject to full tech, engine seals,
LP Gear decals etc.
The next issue which has come up, which most of you don't know, is that Jim
Gallaugher has resigned as vice president. I have appointed Joe Szauer as the
new vice president, and he is willing to step in and help us out. Thanks Joe!
Finally, as we all know, the last race was not without incident. Let's try and
keep things clean on the track and keep our awesome car count growing. There
have been several new people showing interest in our club. Let's show them what
a great club this is and keep it growing. See ya all at the track.
Cheers, Dave
PS...Don't forget that ALL safety gear must be current at the next race May 9th

Hello all. I just thought that I would take a few minutes and give everyone a
little update.
The meeting on Sunday the 1st, was well attended. Those of you who were there,
know what it was all about. For those of you who weren't there, read on.
The club has obtained a new series sponsor for the upcoming season. Thanks to
Lois, we are pleased to announce that LP GEAR (Larry Pollard of Taylorsville,
NC) is the new sponsor. Unfortunately, Serious Coffee felt that they were not in
a position to sponsor again this year. We have written and sent them a thank you
letter for their support over the last two years. The club will have LP Gear
decals made up for the windshields, so start removing the old Serious Coffee
decals.
Calendar sales have gone great so far. At this point, we have collected over
$1000 towards the points fund for this year and there is still some outstanding.
Thanks again, Lois!
We have room for three of our cars to be in the mall show at the end of March,
in the Westshore Town Centre. There will be old timers and a few sprint cars as
well. We will be entering the mall on the Friday night at 9pm and pick them up
again Sunday at 5pm. We can also enter two or three cars into the Lavender
Festival Parade in July. Anyone interested, please contact Lois or Dave.
The schedule is coming together nicely. We now have eight race dates at
Western Speedway. These dates are: April 11, April 18, May 9, June 6, June 20,
July 17&18, Aug 1, and Oct 3. These dates are confirmed. We are still trying to
finalize the two dates at Saratoga Speedway. Paul Hargrave is in the process of
finalizing his schedule and we should know something very shortly.
All in all, things seem to be coming together nicely and it looks like we are
in for a great season. In the meantime, let's all get those cars ready and show
everyone what an awesome club this is!
Cheers, Dave

Hello all! I just thought that I would take a few minutes out from shoveling
snow and update everyone on what has been happening with the club in the off
season.
I recently spoke with Darrell and things are coming together nicely for next
season. I am going to meet with him early in the new year and we are going to go
over the new schedule.
In addition to the elected executive of myself, Jim, Gen and Julie, I have
Chris Watt returning as head tech for next season. I have also got Steve
Siebring and Joe Szauer on board to help Chris out.
I hope everyone is looking forward to next season as much as I am. I am going
to try and put this "newsletter" on the website periodically throughout the off
season and during the regular race season, to keep everyone advised on what is
happening. If anyone has any questions at all about anything, don't hesitate to
call me at home, 250-478-9934 or email me at
crix444@hotmail.com.
On a personal note, Gen and I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy
holiday season.
Cheers,
Dave Isles
